About this product & how to use it

A moisturizer, when you need one.

You do not need to replace a moisturizer that already works for you just because you are considering retinol. If you are looking for a separate moisturizing step, PepNStep Peptide Moisturizer is an optional, one-time purchase.

The 50 ml formula brings together Copper Lysinate/Prolinate, glycerin and aloe, with emollients and botanical extracts. Read the full ingredients and directions below to decide whether it belongs in your routine.

Sold separately for $129. No required bundle or automatic refill. It is not a guarantee against irritation from retinol or other products.

Routine role: Apply after treatment serums to finish the routine.

Ingredients: Aqua, Sorbitan Olivate, Cetearyl Olivate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Methylglucoside Phosphate, Copper Lysinate/Prolinate, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Fruit Extract, Eclipta Prostrata Extract, Moringa Oleifera Seed Extract, Melia Azadirachta (Neem) Leaf Extract, Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Tocopheryl Acetate, Totarol, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Xanthan Gum, Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Maltodextrin, Syringa Vulgaris (Lilac) Leaf Cell Culture Extract.

I stopped calling moisturizer the boring step

I stopped calling moisturizer the boring step. I thought the cleanser and moisturizer were basically there to support the serum I really wanted. After using this cream, I don’t see it quite that way. It’s the part I feel on my skin after I’m finished, the part I enjoy applying, and one of the things that makes the routine worth repeating. I came in expecting to be practical about it. I ended up having a favorite.

I used the whole thing

I used the whole thing. Not halfway. Not until something else arrived. The whole moisturizer, because I kept reaching for it. I have enough partly used skincare to know that says something about what I actually enjoy. I’m not a particularly organized product-finishing person. This one didn’t need a reminder on my phone.

I reordered before checking what was trending

I reordered before checking what was trending. Usually I would use finishing a moisturizer as an excuse to see what everybody was recommending that week. This time I already knew what I wanted. I liked this cream, so I ordered it again. That was surprisingly satisfying. I didn’t have to turn a simple replacement into another attempt to build the perfect routine from scratch.

The cream doesn’t have to solve my whole face

The cream doesn’t have to solve my whole face. I have some uneven tone, a few lines, and days when I’m not thrilled with my skin. I’m not asking my moisturizer to answer every one of those concerns. I like this one because it feels good and gives me the finish I want. Choosing a product for a specific job has made me less likely to call everything a disappointment.

My hands are enough

My hands are enough. I went through a phase of buying rollers, little massage tools, and things I was convinced would make moisturizing more worthwhile. Most of them now require cleaning or charging or finding. I enjoy applying this cream with my hands. I can take a little time when I feel like it without needing equipment to make an ordinary step feel legitimate.

The collar test matters too

The collar test matters too. I bring moisturizer onto my neck, but I don’t enjoy putting on a high collar while my skin still feels coated. I’ve liked using an amount of this cream that settles comfortably before I get dressed. It’s a practical detail that doesn’t show up in beautiful skincare videos. Some of us have to put actual clothes on after the routine.

My husband noticed the texture before the packaging

My husband noticed the texture before the packaging. He borrowed a little of my moisturizer one evening and immediately asked what it was. I hadn’t given him the product description or explained why I chose it. He just liked the feel. That made me laugh because I’d spent ages comparing information before ordering, and his entire evaluation took about thirty seconds. We arrived at liking it very differently.

I stopped leaning so close to the mirror

I stopped leaning so close to the mirror. I would apply skincare and then immediately inspect everything from about two inches away. It made the routine feel strangely stressful. I’ve been trying to put this moisturizer on, notice that it feels nice, and step back. I still pay attention to my skin. I just don’t need to end a pleasant routine by conducting an investigation.

The photos didn’t tell the whole story

The photos didn’t tell the whole story. I tried comparing pictures because I wanted to be sensible about a more expensive purchase. The difference wasn’t dramatic in the photos. But my skin felt more comfortable, and I enjoyed applying the cream every evening. I decided those things counted too. I don’t need an image on my phone to confirm every reason I like a moisturizer.

Plumper is how it looks to me, not a whole new face

Plumper is how it looks to me, not a whole new face. When my skin is looking dry, the surface can seem a bit flat and crinkly. After moisturizing, I enjoy that more cushioned look through my cheeks. That’s what I mean when I say I like the appearance with this cream. I’m not suggesting my face has changed shape. I just like how my own skin looks when it feels moisturized.

I don’t need to prove the cheaper cream was bad

I don’t need to prove the cheaper cream was bad. I used an inexpensive moisturizer for a long time and was mostly happy with it. Now I’m enjoying this one. Both can be true. I don’t have to rewrite my whole skincare history to justify a different purchase. I like the texture, the application, and how my skin feels. Those are the reasons I’d consider buying it again.

I read the mixed reviews first

I read the mixed reviews first. The reviews I find most useful explain what someone liked and what they didn’t. A cream can be too rich for one person and exactly what another person wanted. That’s how I approached this purchase. I’ve enjoyed it in my own routine, especially in the evening. I’m more interested in that fit than whether every person who tries it has an identical reaction.

I want to look cared for, not like a different age

I want to look cared for, not like a different age. I’m comfortable getting older. I still enjoy putting time and money into my skin. Those things don’t feel contradictory to me. This moisturizer gives me a step I enjoy and a softer, more comfortable feel afterward. I don’t need to turn that into a promise to look twenty years younger for it to be worthwhile.

My friend’s favorite wasn’t my favorite

My friend’s favorite wasn’t my favorite. We’ve shared plenty of good recommendations, but moisturizer seems to be where our preferences split. She wants something she can barely feel. I enjoy a little more creaminess. I tried PepNStep with that in mind and have been happy with it. We can both have a favorite without one of us being wrong about our own face.

My old favorite was still fine. I just wanted something different

My old favorite was still fine. I just wanted something different. Nothing dramatic happened to make me change moisturizers. I didn’t hate the old one, and I wasn’t desperate to fix my face. I was curious about trying something with a different feel. I’ve enjoyed this cream enough to keep it in my routine. Not every switch has to come with a story about how everything before it was terrible.

I wasn’t shopping for a procedure in a moisturizer

I wasn’t shopping for a procedure in a moisturizer. The comparison to injections or a facelift usually loses me. I’m buying a cream. I want my skin to feel comfortable, look moisturized, and be pleasant to touch. I’ve enjoyed PepNStep on those terms. I’m much happier with a product that fits what I actually wanted than with an enormous promise I spend the whole time trying to evaluate.

It doesn’t have to smell like a department store to feel nice

It doesn’t have to smell like a department store to feel nice. I used to associate an expensive face cream with a whole fragrance experience. These days I’m more interested in the texture and how it feels once it’s on. That’s what I’ve enjoyed about this moisturizer. I don’t choose a cream the same way I choose perfume, and a strong first impression from the scent wouldn’t make up for a finish I disliked.

I wanted the full ingredient list before paying

I wanted the full ingredient list before paying. That’s something I check before buying skincare, especially at this price. I don’t want to discover the details only after the package arrives. I appreciated being able to read what was in the moisturizer and decide whether it was something I wanted to try. Clear information makes me more comfortable than another vague promise about amazing skin.

I stopped counting how many times a page said peptide

I stopped counting how many times a page said peptide. I had several peptide moisturizers open in tabs and was trying to choose based on which description sounded the most advanced. Eventually I had to admit I wasn’t getting any closer to a decision. With this one, I looked at the full product information and then judged the cream I received. I care more about enjoying it on my face than winning a comparison I don’t really understand.

Glycerin and aloe were familiar names

Glycerin and aloe were familiar names. The peptide description caught my eye, but seeing ingredients I recognized from products I’d enjoyed made me read more closely. I’m not someone who can judge a whole formula from a few names. I still needed to try the cream. But those familiar ingredients gave me a more useful starting point than a paragraph full of words that sounded expensive.

I’d rather replace it than research it again

I’d rather replace it than research it again. Once I’ve found a moisturizer I enjoy, I don’t particularly want to reopen twenty browser tabs every time it runs low. This is something I’d be happy replenishing because I already know what I like about it. The convenience comes after liking the product. Automatic deliveries wouldn’t make an uncomfortable cream more appealing to me.

My moisturizer and serum don’t empty on the same day

My moisturizer and serum don’t empty on the same day. I use different amounts of different products, so a subscription only makes sense to me when it fits that reality. I like this cream enough to keep buying it, but I’d want replenishment that matches how I actually use it. I don’t need three backup serums because the moisturizer was the thing I finished first.

I noticed the difference when I used something else

I noticed the difference when I used something else. I ran low and used a moisturizer I already had at home for a few evenings. It did the job, but I missed the texture of PepNStep. That helped me separate habit from preference. I wasn’t simply attached to the name; I liked a particular experience and could tell when it wasn’t there. That’s useful information when I’m deciding whether to reorder.

I don’t need my entire routine to be expensive

I don’t need my entire routine to be expensive. I’m happy with several inexpensive products and have no intention of replacing them just because I like this cream. This is the part I’ve chosen to spend more on. I use it, I enjoy it, and it fits my budget alongside the other things I’ve kept. I don’t see skincare as a loyalty test between drugstore and premium.

I’m not finishing it out of guilt

I’m not finishing it out of guilt. There is a big difference between using a product because you like it and using it because you remember what it cost. I have done both. With this moisturizer, I reach for it without having to give myself the little speech about not wasting money. I enjoy the feel of it. That makes finishing the product much less of a project.

It was a gift I actually opened

It was a gift I actually opened. I’ve received skincare before and kept it tucked away because I wasn’t sure what to do with it. Moisturizer was an easier gift for me to try because I already knew where it would fit. I’ve enjoyed this one. It went into my regular routine instead of becoming something I saved indefinitely for a special occasion that never arrived.

I started with the moisturizer, not the full routine

I started with the moisturizer, not the full routine. I already had several products I wanted to finish, and I wasn’t interested in abandoning them all at once. Moisturizer was the thing I needed, so that’s where I started with PepNStep. I liked being able to get to know one product instead of making a bigger commitment before I’d used anything. It was enough of a change to form a real opinion.

The moisturizer was the surprise in the bundle

The moisturizer was the surprise in the bundle. I came for the serum. The cream was something I expected to use because it was included. Turns out it’s the product I look forward to at the end of the routine. That was a nice surprise. I’ve bought sets where one item carried the whole purchase and the rest were just there. I don’t feel that way about this moisturizer.

I checked the amount, not the size of the packaging

I checked the amount, not the size of the packaging. Skincare packaging can make it difficult to judge what you’re actually buying. I looked at the stated amount before deciding on this moisturizer. I wanted to compare the product, not how impressive the container looked in a photo. Once it arrived, I could judge whether I liked using it. Those are two separate questions for me, and both matter.
